repainting e30 BBS "basketweave" wheels... DIY

Hey guys, I just bought an e30 'vert.

It came with a set of 14" BBS wheels- they are in decent shape, but need to be refinished. I'm considering doing it myself- either to get them looking like "stock", or maybe a charcoal color as the car is all black with black top.

Interested in your suggestions on "how to", and what not to do(!) to get a good lasting result- should I DIY it, or pay up to have them done professionally (and what should I expect to pay for that?

    Thanks!

Check out the link below (I realize it's for a Porsche), but the process is going to be very similar. You can decide if you want to pursue the project yourself. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing that! I see I can get walnut chips at harbor freight, so I'll give this a try.

yup. I plasti-dip'd some wheels a few years ago because they were in good shape, but I just wanted them black. In this case, the wheels are in poor shape, and I'd like to stick with a stock look.

I did my son's OE Audi wheels with Plasti dip and they looked good and it was easy. Plus it is real easy to change the color if you don't like it.
