I am starting this post to document my Turbo 5.3 build that ive been working on for the past few years. The car started off completely stock with a few Dinan upgrades. It was a 2 owner (Father then Son) California car which was VERY well taken care of. Some of you may even remember when I was parting the car out a few years ago and how pristine condition the parts were. Anyway I wanted to build something that would breathe fire and scare people and quite honestly just not make sense to most people. My first task was completely stripping the car down to the essentials. Basically a rolling chassis minus all of the wiring. Its much easier to start over from scratch then to be tracking down wires. Originally I was just going to do a junkyard 5.3 with a turbo. That quickly faded as soon as I got the motor and started disassembling it to "clean" it. Well once everything was taken apart I started buying parts to put it back together to make it better then stock. And so it begins.....Folks dont ever start a project without a budget. It is VERY easy to get carried away. Anyway heres some pics ive taken thus far. Ill update the thread with photos as I progress at the point im at now (Almost running). Thanks and enjoy

Nice paint work. Holy crap on all that wiring
What parts are you changing in the L33 before the turbo?
What is your clutch setup going to be? My LS7 Clutch is sticking and I am looking for new solutions.

99 LSX M3
Thanks, I only changed a few things in the motor, it now sports an LS9 cam, LS1 intake, Pac 1218 valve springs, new rings hand filed to accommodate boost, Head studs, all new bearings, new oil pump ported and matched, hardened pushrods, and the whole motor was gone through and honed, valve job etc at the machine shop. As for clutch its a spec stage 4 good for 832 ft lbs torque and I forget the name of the flywheel but I remember it was REALLY expensive and I found it on ebay for a steal because the seller just wanted to get rid of it.

Finished the cold side piping today. Not bad for never having welded aluminum and only 30 minutes practice. Also finished the oil feed and return lines.
Great project. The fender exit exhaust will scare pedestrians!
Will the turbo fit beneath the factory hood?

Yeh im definatelt not fitting the turbo beneath the hood. Props to the guys who build there cars and fit everything into the e36 engine bay. Its very cramped in my opinion and I didnt want to do a scavenge pump...Few new updates and pics...I plumbed in a ps cooler in the pass side fog light hole. I have a brake duct from bimmerworld to go into the drivers side foglight hole so it will look a little more uniform. Im currently working on fitting the e30 coolant tank into my engine bay. Then after thats done I just have to do my dual pump setup with returns, a little wiring and get it started. Im trying to slay the streets this spring/summer. 20170424_201947.jpg20170425_103905.jpg20170425_103925.jpg
Also was able to get the Wastegate dump finished.....

Did a bunch more work since the last post. Ended up purchasing the whole rear dropout from Dburts car....Fully reinforced and welded the rear subframe and subframe mounts on the underbody of the car, Rtabs etc...To date car is running and driving I just need to finalize some body work and complete the wiring...

Well the project is nearly done...Took the car out the other day and drove it about 5 miles...Only issue was the oil pressure being at 65psi was pushing the oil past the compressor housing so I took a set screw and drilled a 1/16 hole in it (.062) and then tapped my an4 turbo feed fitting
