The gist of the story is:
I could not get full beam so I disconnected the battery and removed the
steering wheel and airbag and replaced the indicator(full beam)arm
While removing the steering wheel I had to reconnect the battery to move
the steering wheel colum up/down to get better access.
Now I have the drivers airbag warning light on the instrument/dash panel
I tried DIS V57 to erase the warning light but DIS states the fault is "not
currently present" and would not allow me to erase the fault code?? and
the airbag warning light is still on/lit.
Any help advice is gratefully appreciated !!!
INPA should clear that code.
SRS warning light (air bag) requires a specific reset tool or software. If you didn't figure it out yet...the problem occurred when you powered the car back up...but didn't have all the air bag electrical harness plugged back in. It considered that as a fault...not reading all the SRS sensors.

Thanks for the replies guys!
re "specific reset tool or software" these appear to be hit and miss with the reset tools
on fleebay, some have success and others dont?
There are airbag reset tools on fleebay aimed at BMW but I dont want to throw money
at a generic reset tool (B800 TOOL) which might or might not work.

The OBD connector is for monitoring emissions related systems in the car...like when the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT or the SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning light illuminates. It even says so in the owners manaul.
I only have an OBD2 connector there is No 20 pin connector under the bonnet??
Starting with the 2001 model year produced BMWs (some started in June/00...others in Sept/00)...the 20 pin DLC in the engine bay was deleted. For those BMWs built after the specific dates given in the info below that DO NOT have the 20 pin DLC...your 16 pin interior DLC performs all duties required for communication with the car's bus system:
