    2006 X3 M54 Oil Leak

I have isolated a common M54 oil leak at the oil filter housing. I have replace the oil filter gasket and (11421719855) and the 4 metal gasket rings (32411093596) but still have an oil leak. There is visible oil on the engine under the intake manifold. Checked our several repair videos on YouTube to confirm that I am doing what is required. Should I be using some type of gasket sealer as part of the process. Neither the Bentley manual or the YouTube videos mention use of anything other than a new oil filter gasket. Any advice is appreciated since I am hoping that three times is a charm.

I have a precipitously leaking valve cover gasket.

Conventional wisdom points to the spark plug gaskets therein

I would not assume that the oil filter housing gasket needs to be replaced again in this case .... there are other common oil leak sources on the M54 engine. In my oil leak elimination process, I had a number of leaks including the oil filter housing gasket, the vent tubes, and finally all tightened up when the valve cover gasket was replaced.
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!

If the oil filter housing gasket was installed correctly along with new compression rings on the oil supply hose, I would suspect a crack in the oil supply hose. They get brittle with age making them prone to leaking if handled.

Thanks for the advice. Need a little additional information on the location of the "oil supply hose". Are you referring to part #11361705532 as the oil supply hose
