    clogged oem trans filtran filter

so i solved my tranny issues. lucky me it was a clogged and or collaped OEM filtran filter and NOT a bad trans like i was thinking. had 1500 miles on filter. any one explain why it got clogged/ went bad? never heard of filtran filter going bad, and i mean even 20 year old filtran filter ive pulled out of a e38 trans is still good...but THIS IS WHY I BUY MY PARTS FROM FCP EURO--i have not had to pay a dime for my trans filters, o rings, or pan gaskets. just return shipping costs. like i say below i think ive had like 5 filters , so it gets pricey.
anyway, i have a MANN filter in there now ( this is like the 5th filter i've put in i think ) and damn the car is 100% back to normal for first time since beginning of winter. .this thing better not go bad now lol...i just have a hard time understanding how a OEM filtran filter failed, this has to be a first? not too happy about that. its a lot of work to change w/o lift!!
maybe 2017 quality of the filters has gone down hill ?? or maybe i just got a bad one, which i doubt...
i will keep ppl updated on the Mann filter kit.
also, i did this ALL this time with the front of the car just up on ramps, and everything went smoothly, just very little working room.

I'm glad that you caught that. I can imagine what a big relief it is.

mann filter and pan gasket are still good no leaks
only thing is FCP forgot the MANN o ring in the kit for the filter so i had to re use the 6 month old BMW one, so i can't say anything about the mann o ring, but usually aftermarket ones are no good.

I have a mann filter on the table right now to do the trans on Monday so this is good news because I was worried I should have went filtran or nothing.

I think I read somewhere that the issue with non fltran filters was the lack of the ridges to provide structural support thus collapsing, and the other manufacturers [febi, mann] filters now have those structural ridges as well?

This Mann filter I have has the ridges and is super firm across the center. I doubt it is able to collapse like the older ones.

I'll have to double check, maybe it's febi. I know it's not filtran. Man you are good!

Also dont just blow by my comment about the after market filter o ring...when ur putting the filter on try and pop it back off and it it falls right off easily then u need to replace the o ring with oem bmw or ur trans will be sucking air and u will just have to do the job over again.
