    wheel offset

I have a 2007 BMW Z4 3.0SI coupe. Over the weekend I swapped out the original 17" wheels with the factory +46 off set with a set of after market rims with +35 offset. I reused the Dunlop Signature HP tires. They only have about 2500 miles on them. The tires were spin balanced when they were mounted on the new rims. I took the car for a test drive and at highway speeds the car is very twitchy. I have done similar swaps before on other cars but they were not BMW's. Is the Z4 that sensitive that a 11mm change in offset will affect the handling?

Check out the link below, it's a great guide to offset, spacing, and overall wheel fitment.

My stock offset is 47 (style 106) and I have put wheels with an offset of 42 and not noticed anything. It's not as big of a difference as yours, though. Maybe you found the sweet spot?
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.

Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.

    Define "twitchy"

A minor change in offset should not change the handling characteristics of the car. Maybe the aftermarket wheels do not have the correct center bore or something.
