I recognize that engine. Since I have both parts of the swap, in their original arrangements, I can imagine how much faster the E24 is now...

Looks nicely done, but I might have dropped that engine into a basic 635 CSi, if only to preserve the seemingly-increasing value of original M6's. I'd eventually like one of those engines, or an S54 in my 635.

I think that I agree. I have both a 635 and an M6. I would do what ever is required to maintain originality in the M6. Reversible mods are cool if it makes the owning/driving experience better.

    That's rad.

If I had the income, I would definitely be putting an S52 into my car. After riding around in a friend's E36 M3 that was making about 340hp, I was hooked on that motor... Plus, my car's already wacky enough to where I don't have to worry about originality...

You can always improve the performance of the S38B35. The M88 can easily hit 320hp to 350hp and still be street drive-able. The M88 in the Group C JPS car runs 420hp with stock internal dimensions. So a good 320hp should be achievable in an S38B35. The American M6 was always a little too light on power but some decent engine work would do wonders. I prefer the look of an S38B35 over the B36 in that M6 for sale. It must reduce the value of that M6.

Here in Australia there is an M635CSi for sale at $139k. Seriously optimistic but it appears the punters see this car as the next big thing. It is sure to follow the E9 CSL batwing. 8 years ago they were $50k, now more than double that.

CSLs are around $350k USD now. So while that is more than double, it's a whole lot more.

Wow, and I could have bought one for $50k in 2009. Oh well.
