    Post swap help

My son and I just finished swapping the 1.9l with tranny in his '95 318is it was a perfect running, well taken care of motor the day before the swap. Now it has no horsepower and lots of smoke from the tailpipe. Any suggestions?

Uh... little more info, what did you swap in, where did the motor come from, did you do anything to the motor before you swapped it in, did you check the timing again before you put it in? Searched for vacuum leaks? What parts were replaced if any?

Need much more info than what you gave

We took out a bad 1.9 from a 95 318is. Put in a good 1.9 from a 94 318i. No changes to the good motor at all. No vacuum leaks that I can see. I forgot to mark the 2 fuel lines. Could it be that I mix them up and if so would that cause such a problem?

Is that enough info? It was a pretty straight forward swap.

Forums are fucking pointless. Full of narcissistic know-it-alls that act like your questions are idiotic and you should know this stuff from birth. But they never have answers or even suggestions.

The forums are helpful when people know what to offer as a suggestion. Unfortunately none of us were there to watch what you did. An asinine response certainly will not yield any helpful responses. Perhaps a shop that is fully staffed with "narcissistic know it all" types that are willing to empty your pocket book would be the next logical step.

Perhaps this question should've been towards the E36 subforum instead of the engine swap one. Most of the people here move on to bigger engines to avoid BMW engine headaches.
