Ok, so one day I am driving my car everythings working perfectly fine...shifting fine, I park...go to work for 6 hours then come out to start it and I see the Trans. light on my dash with no letters. In the morning I take it to the shop (3 different shops btw) and they all could scan my engine codes but for some reason could not connect to my transmission computer. I replaced the TCU....still wont connect and its like my car is stuck in 4th gear. Am I looking at a major electrical issue? because normally a scanner would work but now its not.
Scans with only OBD2 scanners/software isn't going to communicate with BMW transmission modules.
Were any of the 3, BMW specialist shops?
Do you or friends have access to BMW INPA software/laptop?
That, along with the correct cables, should have you communicating with all BMW modules on vehicle.
^^correct about the OBD scanners not reading the trans.
You may just want to do something simple, like lift the car and check to see if the plugs to the valve body are secure. Pull them and reseat them. I have not played with my e46 trans, but the e34 and e38 have one main plug for the VB and another plug either up front (e38) or at the output shaft (e34).
INPA, or any BMW indy shop, should be able to read the trans codes, if there are any. Plan on a $200 charge just to hook it up. Find someone nearby that has INPA. Look up BMW club members near you or call the club, google them.

Does PA Soft read Transmission codes?
I had the TRANS PROGRAM appear on my E34 twice. One by one, I removed and cleaned every fuse/relay in the underhood box. It never happened again. Don't know if that helps but it certainly can't hurt. I did this when the E34 guys suggested that most times a TRANS PROGRAM issue was electrical in nature.
Could be a MAF censor? mine wasn't plugged in properly following a expansion tank replacement causing the trans to go into limp mode
Is there a BMW "limp' mode for the transmission, or transmissions, including 6 speed auto, or 5 speed manual? I honestly don't know, but I doubt it! Changing flat tires today...is also a challenge for new drivers!
