Latest visit to the dealer... Smiling faces when I appear at the counter. Before you know it, they'l be asking if I want something to drink. That can't be good
Exhaust mounting parts...
Cooling system (new cooling fan was a little bit camera shy)...
Powersteering hoses and reservoir...
These aren't new because they seem to retail at more than $120 a piece Sandblasted and powdercoated is fine too!

I agree some of these e38 prices are laughable for sure............

I wanted to replace the AC compressor with a new item. The original part was manufactured by Denso. The quote I got from the dealer was more than €1000, I paid €299 for that same Denso compressor, but without the BMW logo. I'd be willing to pay a premium for OEM parts, but €700 for a tiny little logo is a bit crazy, I guess...
Today's work. I fitted the alternator/power steering/ water pump V-belt and tensioner. New pulleys on power steering pump and water pump. New power steering oil reservoir. New cooling water hoses and hydraulic hoses. New thermostat and thermostat housing. No AC belt yet, since I am still waiting for my cheap ass AC compressor. I also fitted the front axle carrier so the engine hoist could get out of my way. Slowly getting there!
I have a bad oil leak on my son`s e39 528i.....Culprits? Oil filter housing gasket and the O-ring on the Oil Dipstick...
2000 740i Sport
I have replaced both. The O-ring because I had to drop the oil sump and the oil filter housing gasket because almost everything on that side had already been taken off. However, in my case none of these two were leaking any oil. Let's hope I installed the new gaskets correctly
Love the attention to detail. You will be able to eat off this thing when its done!!
Keep up the great work, can't wait to see more.
Very cool!!!

Does anyone have experience with modifying sway bars or springs? I need to bend the ends of a sway bar, take some of the bend out actually. I can heat and bend easy enough that is not my problem, I am worried about the retained metal properties.. Will I need to have it reheat treated after bending or not.
I know if you cool it to fast after heating it will be too brittle for sure. Seem to remember that cooling with oil will change that but not sure if I dreamed that or where it came from.
