Rough Idle. Need Help

Ok so I have a 2001 325Ci that occasionally has an issue with rough idle and has died from that rough idle once or twice.(usually during cold weather or if it hasn't been driven in a bit) I have swapped the air filter, run injector cleaner, replaced ICV, replaced sparks plugs for good measure and have checked and replaced any hoses that are cracked. At this point I cant really think of anything else to try. Most forums I've read through cite the ICV as the issue but I've replaced mine within the last 4 months. The only other possibility I've come across was something I read about it being an issue with the VANOS system. Something about a ring that wears out over time. Not sure on that one and I'd prefer not to mess with VANOS if at all possible. As always any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you unplugged the maf and saw if it ran better?
