Hey guys,
I recently purchased a 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i. I am missing a couple of tools in the trunk but am having a really hard time IDying the part numbers to purchase them.
I would appreciate any help you could provide.

The top one is for the handle for the white cord in the image - it's there, but is currently located on the bit you unscrew to release the wheel - I've circled it in green. The other hole looks like where the locking wheel nut key would go.

Resurrecting this thread.
Today was warm enough to get outside and start sorting out my 325ci convertible.
I was going through the trunk and I noticed that one of the tools was missing from the kit. It looks like there was supposed to be some sort of safety triangle?
Also, the crusty yellow stuff is only on the tray. Anyone else seen this?
Thanks, Ron in Indy
what goes here.jpg
Optional Euro warning triangle goes there. Something like this:
Yeah, the triangle didn't come on US-spec'd cars as far as I know. You could get a euro triangle and put it there, but many of us don't have that. I don't plan on getting it.
Thanks. I suspected it was not in US cars. Most that I found online were in EU or AU.
Still trying to figure out what that yellow crud is. Perhaps this is where the PO stored his
emergency sandwich.
Cheers,

My car has a triangle in a blue plastic case that fits into a recess across the tail end of the trunk, and is retained by two rubber straps.
I see a couple on eBay:

Yep. No triangle in 'Merica. I'ts too dangerous to get out of your broken down car in 'Merica. You'll either get hit by a soccer mom in her Suburban because she's texting or slip and fall and subsequently sue the county you happen to be in and drive them broke. AAA only.
I keed I keed!
Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead.
Yes. I ended up ordering a similar one on Amazon. Not sure it it will fit in the tray, but, if not, I'll toss it in the trunk.
You might be right about the flares. I'll take it apart and see if I can clean it up. If not, it looks like the plastic tray is also easy to find online.

It's always wise to watch out for those SUV-driving soccer moms.
I second that on the flares. There were five flares in the trunk of my Z3 upon purchase. I didn't even realize they were they because of how they are stored in the rack between the tail lights. I assume they were placed there by the factory or original dealer. I just found that the casings on two of them had cracked open. White powder all over the place.
I'll need to give it a real good cleaning when it comes out of storage in May.
