Thread: No fire on Starting??

    1999 528i, 157K miles

    No fire on Starting??

    2002 e39 530i

    I replaced the front rotors/pads, then replaced the spark plugs. That's it. Sound like the engine turns over fine, but either no spark or no fuel.

    Everything looks good on the engine as far as connected. Engine turns over quickly, so battery is good. All ignition coils look good and are secure on the block. I don't know if the no-start is fuel or electrical at this point, so...

    Any ideas about what to try next?

    Battery is good, but it's being charged anyway to bring it to full charge.

    When I crank the engine, it seems like the turning over is a higher pitch than normal (my hearing sux, though), but could that be a clue?

    That higher sound might be no fuel. Its just turning the motor. More info would be nice, but check if youre at least getting fuel. If you spray some throttle body cleaner in the intake (after the maf, not before) and turn it over, it might try to run. If so, its a fuel/pump problem
