Hey - I have a 135i and got rid of my Bridgestone run-flats. Kept the stock wheels, but switched to Hankook ventus v12 in a 255/225. TPMS still works.

I have z4, ditching run flats definitely makes it smoother. Slight loss of control on sharp edges. I got the exact same size, however they look a little smaller because the edges are rounded . Runflats have sharper edges (donut vs cylinder)
I just got my tires replaced the past weekend, General RT43 225/45R18 on my stock 397s. In winter I run Continental ExtremeWinterContact 225/55R17, with 17x7.5 reps.
No TPMS.
On my 2014 320i Xdrive, I bought 5 Kumho Ecsta PA31 225/50R-17 and put them on the standard 17" wheels of which I bought one more to put in the trunk as my spare...because I believe in spare tires. Here's the wheel spec:

Edit: mine didn't have the TPMS, only flat tire sensor.

Went from 225/45/18 Continental RFTs on stock 18x8" style 415s to 245/40/18 Continental DWS 06 go-flats on VMR 18x8.5" (squared). I reused the old TPMS sensors, just had them rebuilt. Road noise is significantly less and ride feels a lot better all around.
Just for general knowledge the new Bridgestone drive guards are a new generation of runflat, getting better tire mileage and feel, plus you can repair them if you get a nail in them
2011 E92 335ix
Replaced OEM Continental RFTs with same size 225/45ZR-17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. Also, bought a BMW Genuine Factory OEM 71100413439 Tire Mobility Kit.
I am a non-aggressive driver. I was interested in (1) safety, (2) ride quality, and (3) noise level. I don't particularly care about mileage life or absolute track performance. I'm very well pleased with new tires. It's as if car was returned to the factory for installation of a new suspension. My original RFTs were loud and hard riding - especially noticeable on terrible local Baltimore streets.
My wife drives our 328i so I feel that I have to stay with the Continental run flats.

I ditched the Goodyear Asymmetric F1's Runflats I had and bought myself the new Michelin Pilot 4S, couldn't be happier with them.
They're only downside is their greatest strength; they don't want to let me go sideways when I really want to!

I bought non-run-flats a year ago, when my Pirellis wore out with just 19K miles. I also carry a can of inflate-a-tire, lug wrench and a small scissors jack.
My travel is almost entirely within the metro area (Denver) so I know my cell phone can reach help quickly if needed. (I could remove the wheel/tire, call Uber and have it patched and then return to re-install.)
I looked at AAA service, but too expensive.
I looked at the cost and space issues for a spare tire/wheel, and opted to just gamble a bit.
