Now for the fun part where the balls touch and you realise it's going to cost what you paid for the car to get it in proper working order. First thing I would tell any e36 owner to do is replace all the bushings with a soft eurethane variant, worn bushings make these cars handle and feel like shit.

Too many people look short term.

Will I spend 6k in the next 5 years on this car, yes. And that will put me at the exact price I could have bought a super clean one for, except this one will be a bit better in terms of color combo.

In 5 years how is the market going to look on E36 M3s?

Looking back at auctions over the last year you can already see how the market is trending.

Find me another 99 with under 150k miles for under 7k. Go a step further and find a Fern green on magma.

Will this car be worth 20k in 5 years? No.

I didn't buy it for any of this though.

I'd like to see some more pics of the interior once you have it all cleaned up, I've never seen that color and think the magma actually looks pretty cool.

I love the title of this thread and it's been good reads so far, looking forward to more . Who cares how much you need to fix up, it'll make it more personal that way .

Woah it has been a second since I have thrown new photos in.

Carpets are super clean now, and surprisingly the floor mats made a nearly 100% recovery from what they were. Thank baby jesus since you can no longer get Magma anything.

Rear brakes were....not good to say the least and have now been replaced.

    lmao!

That magma interior looks great and good job on the carpets, I think I'm going to be doing the same myself pretty soon.

Thanks man! It was a process that was more disgusting than I anticipated.

The Magma has been growing on me steadily for a while now. Can't wait to get all the leather repaired.

Installed a Mason Engineering Clutch Pedal I had sitting on my work bench intended for my Z3 this past weekend

I have no photos as it was rather boring

Well unfortunately this car met a short end.

    IMG_20170817_184920_543.jpg

Insurance paid out significantly more than what I bought the car for. Market is still rising on these

Man, sorry to hear about the wreck. Glad you seem to be OK and glad you got a decent insurance payout.

I have the same car.... 99 coupe, fern over magma. Less than 100 were imported between 98 and 99 for those wondering. A rare combo indeed. RIP.

Bum deal. That's a big concern for me as I regularly drive mine which typically eliminates replacement value insurance for classic car policies. I know I have put way more in replacement parts than the blue book reflects. Especially true for non M e36's. Glad insurance covered it and then some. Hope no one was seriously injured and you find another good color combo to suit your needs.

Yeah I am most depressed about killing a very rare color combo that has super small production numbers, such is life though

I ended up getting an 1989 750iL Ac Schnitzer. Alpine White on Saddle Brown. Rare in its own right.
