Hi all
Been a while since I posted here (meaning I've been happy with the X5D). 69k miles now and first check engine
light came on yesterday. Also noticed the blower fans are not working at all. However, when I turn the front defroster on, the defrtoster comes on just fine (different motor?)?
Last couple of days, I was also getting a "battery charge dissipated" warning. Googling and reading forums indicate it might be the Final Stage Resistor (FSU) (which also drains the battery per research?)?
I'm not much of a car savy person so wondering how much am I looking at to have a local indy dealer fix this? If it is the FSU?
Thanks!
Check the condition of your battery, especially if you do not know when it was last replaced. 6 years is a good life for original battery. Indy would be a good bet as new battery will need to be "registered" with the car to reset the charging cycle computer/regulator. Low voltage conditions have these beasts doing unusual things and turning on lots of errors.
