Some pics for ya. Didn’t come out so great I apologize and they aren’t perfectly aligned as I plan to pull them again to put some new AE’s in there and my driveway is on a slope. You also can’t tell too well but I “smoked” the turn signal and the amber corners just to see how it came out. I have a new set of lenses with clear corners to go on when I get a chance so this was mostly to just play around. Overall the light output is absolutely amazing. Blows away all my other newer cars to the point I’m retrofitting all of them with better lighting.

You can spread that out quite a bit you know.
Update (sorry, I kinda hijacked this thread):
Got the COB angel eyes installed, and did a test run. Looks pretty cool.

Now I need to secure the COB ballasts to the housing, making sure I can disconnect them for future upgrades. Demon eyes? Quad projectors? The sky's the limit!
I am waiting on some high beam splitters and assorted connectors for the bixenon solenoid from TheRetrofitSource.com, and I need to align the high beam with the projector, so I'm still a while away from the end of this repair.

Nate. Are those the same cob rings I bought? And yeah, major hijack going on but wth I'm done with my lights and I guess it's at least on topic.

Swiped the electrical connections from my 03 530iA parts car to build a sorta-sketchy headlight harness so I can power the bulbs with an old battery I have.
Sketchy saw horse table:
IMG_1992.jpg
Very dodgy soldering; I need to go invest in a good soldering gun or iron.
IMG_1993.jpg
The color banding is really cool.
I was able to center the high beam on the step by loosening the left side/tightening the right of the projector onto what I call the "bulb holder" for lack of a better term. This is the part inside the headlight that articulates, and the part that flaps around when the adjusters break.
High beam relative to the step, pre-adjustment. Not too far out, but not great.
IMG_1995.jpg
Post-adjustment. Lower, and much better centered.
IMG_1999.jpg
Gratuitous dual-high beam shot.

I'm stoked to reassemble it!

Nice work Nate. I like the bench testing setup. Be really careful sealing that lens back up with respect to keeping the alignment. I had my high beams lined up but I tweaked the drivers side one putting it back together. Never fixed it since the xenon high beam works so well.

Put the new DJAuto lens on. Had a heck of a time getting the clips in place; I had to scrape away quite a lot of old butyl to get the lens to sit properly in the corner, even after baking it at 200ºF for 10 minutes. Don't mind the mild hazing; that's smudges from my hands pressing it back together. I'm very happy with the quality of the DJAuto lenses.
I could probably go for a higher-K bulb, maybe 5500, to match up with the angel eyes, but I think I'll wait until I have my 55w ballasts made.

I have 5500 bulb with stock ballasts. I personally don't need a 55w ballasts. It's super bright already and the depth of field is pretty amazing.
Looks good Nate.
