New to tunes, question about JB4

Hey guys, I have a question. I have a 2011 335is N54 and my friend is giving me a good deal on a new JB4 with the dual cone intakes. I have a warranty through Warranty Direct which is an external company. If I have these installed and something goes wrong, will they be able to pick up on the JB4 if I bring it into the mechanic for a repair on say the turbos or something else? If it will screw my warranty up I don't want to do it, but if it will be fine then it's worth it. Thanks for the help in advance

Other members should chime in here, but I'm saying yes, they'll be able to tell that a tune is implemented even if it's a stand-alone system. I thought about going the same route, but am waiting on the warranty to expire.

That's what I was thinking... My thought was if maybe I did it through a mechanic I knew well, they could possibly "hide" the fact that I have a tune from the warranty company to avoid any issues, as I would prefer this over an MHD tune, but it seems like with warranty MHD may be safer, as you can reflash stock map much faster

JB4 is a piggyback so it does not reflash the ECU. The JB4 is easy to set on bypass mode, making it undetectable. You can also remove or install it in an hour or two once you know how to do it but since it is wired in it is definitely more work to remove than a flash like Cobb. If there is some expensive problem, the warranty company may investigate to see if it can find a way to avoid paying. In the event of a problem like that, I would reverse it to completely stock if I had the opportunity. I believe BMW can detect whether your ECU has ever been flashed, but I am not certain of that and their may be some tuning end run around that.
