If I didn't have to buy a minimum of 25 credits I would probably download that just to have the cad files.
The 25 credits are $24 total. Probably not going to break the bank.

Are those a 3d file or a vector image?

If I buy it can someone separate just the wheel for me?

Sort of on topic for 3D files... I'm making some "Roadstar" keychains, like these, but for Roadstar wheels

If anyone has a 3d scan of a Roadstar, I can reward you with some free keychains (not a lot I know but hey...) or work something else out?

Otherwise we will be basing the design off just a bunch of pictures and I'm not entirely sure I trust that
The dude who made the 3pc roadstars probably would. Icon forged?

I thought that too, never asked him because I can't imagine he'd give it out.

I don't have the means to make wheels though (and I'm not stupid enough to try, I know for custom designed wheels, $1100/wheel is a steal) so maybe I can get in touch

again, i am not SURE those are the wheels you are looking for so there is a RISK if you buy them. Here are the formats:

    • Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
    • Encapsulated Postscript (.eps)
    • Portable Document Format (.pdf)
    • Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)
    • AutoCAD (.dwg)
    • Drawing Exchange Format (.dxf)

I know I can work in .dwg and .dxf. It "should" have everything as a separate part that would make it easy to just pull the wheel out. Again, these are assumptions and risk.

I can work with most of those file types here at work. So I would be happy to work with them for you. Mainly the .dwg and .dxf file types

Tommy, I can get these made on. Professional HP MJF 3D printer. We can print as many as we can stuff into a 15”x11.5”x15” build volume. If you send me a step or iges file I can get it going.

I've been having issues with the material removal for the AC controls. I think I may scan the AC interface and just to a subtract material command and try to fill in enough material so that there is something to drill into in order to mount the AC bezel, which uses a combination of clips and screws now.

Is it possible to convert these scans to a solid part? I would like to add some material in to reinforce the weak points. I also wouldnt mind attempting to print it as two pieces on my replicator.

I've posted a link to the downloadable grabcad file in the OP

Would really love for someone to clean it up (Venom said it needed a little tweaking) and maybe produce and release a version with the cig lighter delete and extra slot for switch. Deleting the cig lighter and replacing it with an extra switch slot and then evening the gaps between the switches would strengthen it by widening the gap (slightly) between buttons. It would also provide more area for reinforcement ribbing to be applied to the underside.

AC Bezel is taking shape nicely. I will use this as a cutting element to remove the material needed to mount it in the lower portion of the panel, as well as a block to build material up to in order to supply reinforced mounting points for it.

I just purchased an upper trim piece off ebay that's not broken. I will try to get a scan of it as soon as I can. Will likely have to come in to work on a day off to get it scanned in.

That's great news, I was not very happy with the scan quality of mine. Maybe I can work on modifying the lower trim while you scan the upper trim.

considering buying this printer. Build volume is the biggest issue with these parts. This one is 19.6x19.6x19.6" build area (500x500x500mm). I think the longest dimension on the lower console is around 11" or so (cant remember exactly).
I would guess printing in ABS would be best for these?

edit* just got an email that my upper trim showed up. I am going to see if I can get access to the 3D scanner tomorrow (tomorrow is an off day where I work so I should be able to use it)

Won't a printer with that resolution require a lot of finishing work, which would then mean a lot of variances in final appearance as well as fit and finish?

no idea. I am new to printers. Not sure what resolution I would need.

I have access to several higher resolution printers.
Would be happy to print some test pieces if someone sends me a file

Also have access to a Steriolithograohic system. That may be even better.

link to the lower trim files. I need to find some free time to stay after work or come into work on a day off to scan the upper trim.

I think SLA would be a requirement. FDM just won't be able to produce a smooth enough product and when having to clean up the part will lose tolerance. imo of course.

I have been told SLA produces a brittle final product, which would be unsuitable for this type of trim piece

3D printing seems genius until you realize all the limitations :/

Just got it quoted in SLA. It would be $215 for an SLA sample that is finished. It would not be painted and would come in a rather clear color.

There is not much flex in SLA, that is true but if you aren't removing this all the time, I don't think it should be an issue. We typically print small exterior truck parts.

The optimal process and material would be injection molding but then the tooling comes in at a higher cost.

That seems a bit high. You can still buy these for close to that price new from stores like ECS tuning. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/51162491400/
