I have a 2005 645Ci and the ignition key will not release.
Car has about 105K miles on it.
This just happened tonight.
The key will not turn over and start with the car in Park
The Park position will not light up near the shifter.
I can start the car in Neutral and it appears to drive fine and can go in reverse.
I would really like to be able to have the key out of the ignition and secure the car from the outside.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks,
Doug....
As you have noticed, the reason the key will not come out is because the gearbox will not select Park - the switch can be accessed as described in this routine:

You can remove the mechanical part of the key from the key assembly and use that to lock the doors....
