I went and saw this car last weekend and it is every bit a nice as stated, really the thing is mint suffice three small rock chips. There aren't a lot of examples of e46s in this condition, except at places like EAG and other similar dealerships. So, I am having a hard time deciding on whether the price is fair. I got him at 36k.

This would be a garage queen for me. Thoughts?

E46 M3's with that little of mileage in manual/hardtop are very rare. If the vehicle is as immaculate as stated, then I would easily believe its worth your offer. KBB is not the bible when determining the value of collectible cars in exquisite condition and doesn't take market demand in to account. Of course something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Seems a bit on the high side, but as mentioned the 6 speed hardtop is a fairly rare combo and the silver-grey metallic on black combo is one of the nicer ones imo. You can pick up these cars in the low to mid 20's in very good condition, not sure you will find another with only 18k miles, but time is the bigger killer for most things on these anyways.

I would need complete service records, as well as matching engine/trans codes,
Considering the asking price, and that I'm meticulous when it comes to these type of purchases.
It's a lovely car but it's overpriced by $15,000, IMHO.
Honestly, unless the car's been gone through, top to bottom, it's still just a 12 year old car to me. The low miles is definitely a selling point, but with something like that, time is the killer. Being described as "meticulously maintained" is subject to some interpretation. To most, it would mean that the factory specified maintenance program was followed. By the looks of it, the car was a curio kept in a glass cabinet, seldom driven. Is that good or bad? When something just sits for that long, things just go bad and when the car isn't driven, they can go unnoticed.
Really, I might go $25k if I really wanted the car. I recently passed up on an '03 M3 with 67k miles on it, but it had been driven, with meticulous records. The car was in as near perfect shape as a used car can be and they were asking $17k for it, non negotiable. It was a vert, six speed, so maybe apples and oranges, but just a consideration.
That's just a pretty big chunk of change for a car with no warranty to fall back on. It just hasn't been driven enough to get an idea of whether the sum of the parts equals a dependable machine. Of course, I'm assuming that its dependability is a consideration.
In the end, the question is whether it's worth the price to you? I know that I haven't seen an example such as that one around.
Personally, I think that if the price is gonna drain the bank account and a $4k repair would break you, I'd pass on it. If the asking price is just mad money to you, then hey....you only live once.
Thanks all, I really appreciate the feedback.
Of course its only worth what I / or the market is willing to pay for it. But, all my purchases in the past have been based on a lot of research relating to prices I see on the forums from people I know and trust etc. My next purchase was intended to be an e46 M3 in near perfect condition. Which is exactly what this was, however I thought it would take me a lot longer to find and therefore I would have more time to really dig in to the values of these cars. Which of course didn't happen.
So, really, thanks again for the feedback!

In that condition, at that mileage? That price is probably fair. EAG would put it in the 40's - and would get it. And they probably wouldn't have to put much $$ into it because it's so meticulously cared for.
That said, that's still a steep price for a 12 year old M3. But.. so clean, such low mileage. It's worth that much to somebody, I promise you. But is it you?

Overpriced...
Been for sale for several weeks so I am thinking the market (at least Denver) agrees. Is it fair? Only you can decide that for you.
