    Wisdom needed

Oh wise BMW enthusiast of the Southeast! I come in search of wisdom.

Is it prudent to let my tastefully modded '87 325is go for an immaculate 2 owner all stock '95 M3 5-speed coupe?

Those who have owned both please share with me your experience.

Besides the obvious, what am I giving up and what am I gaining?

Here's the kicker, can you ever get an e36 to be as sharp as an e30? This isn't a track car, this is a mountain car. Any thoughts?

If the M3 is truly immaculate I'd go for it! I had a 95 M3 a few years ago, and it was a blast on curvy mountain roads. It would take a lot of modifications to get an E30 on the same handling plane as a stock E36 M3.

E36 M3 is certainly a sharper handling car than the E30 out of the box.

Both are going up in value for the clean examples, so if you feel like it's a good trade on your end I say go for it!

I completely understand and agree. My car has springs and shocks with a few upgrades under the hood. The M3 was completely stock but when I drove the M3 it felt numb and soft compared to e30. It was very tight not sloppy but softer.

I'd do the trade, but I'm biased as the car looks like mine. But there's no denying the advancements an E36 M3 has over a standard E30... unless you just like E30's for their personality, that's ok too. But the E36 M3 is very well rounded car and will be increasing probably more so than a 'standard' E30.

And I don't like those big bumpers... an E30 with euro bumpers and an M5x/S5x swap would make the decision harder. But the E36 M3 is handsome without touching a thing.

A suspension refresh will change that soft feeling... some coilovers would really tighten things up. Or even just some Bilsteins + H&R sport.

With that said, where does your clutch pedal engage? This one was basically on the floor. Is that normal?

mines pretty low, I've heard getting rid of the Clutch Delay Valve can help with both pedal feel and engagement. Maybe a re-bleed and a new line? IDK I have 190k miles on my stock clutch and no real issues except I'd like to get rid of that CDV.

This is a 95 with 175k on the clock and I bet it still has the original clutch. I'm asking the owner for maintenance records but he hasn't gotten back with me yet.
