    bimmer loyalty

Why is it that once a bimmer head always a bimmer, I have a e36 1998 coupe and e46 2006 cabrio and can't get enough of them

It's not like there are many competitors for sporty, rear wheel drive cars with a usable back seat and manual transmission options. Particularly if you're looking for a used car on a sub-$10,000 budget; it's generally either a BMW or a Mustang unless you get a good deal on a Cadillac CTS-V.

BMW - where "Why doesn't everybody build cars the way they do?" meets "Why can't they build a car the same way everyone else does it?"

BMWs infect you with a feeling that you just don't get driving other vehicles. I got hooked driving an e38. I then bought an e39 M5. Then I purchased an e36 328is as a project car. I have since sold the M5 and replaced it with a Mini. The Mini sure feels like a BMW product to me, sharp handling, firm but comfortable ride and a sweet engine.
    Current fleet:
    1999 BMW e36 M3
1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
    1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
    1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
    1962 Austin Healey Sprite

I've only owned my e36 for a few months now and I'd say I'm hooked. There's just something about hoping into a 20 year old car and having an instant feeling of quality engineering and despite my tiny underpowered motor it's still a blast to drive.

I was always amazed by brand loyalty. My sig list looks like i'm for loyal, but that's wrong. I can see some of the draw to the BMW's, and they do drive nice. But I think the bimmer head thing is just because of who you hang around. I know plenty of people, myself included that have owned one, or do own, but don't feel any special pull to it.

Maybe you're just a GearHead, willing to sample all brands of vehicles, Until you also are bitten by the loyalty bug,
And come to the realization that BMW truly is-The Ultimate Driving Machine!
