    Installed 88 degree t-state on 540i

    Gents,

Just installed t-state 88 degree. It is start to open on 90degree, but my e60 fan does not work at that time. Car is not moving. Engine is on. Why my engine still 105 degree? Should i put some resistor on fan temperature gauge? As i knew fan should start work at 95degree.

Where is the temp sensor for the E60 fan? Does this fan replace the mechanical fan?

Your question was answered here https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...rom-e60-to-e39 by geargrinder.

He already told you to install an aftermarket fan controller.

    Cheers

Have no idea, it replace OEM AC fan and I also removed mechanical clutch fan. So, it works as AC fan. There is 2 temperature sensors, one from t-state it self and second one is after radiator. So, as I know my fan from e60 is working all the time when I switch on my AC and keeping 90 degree C even if weather is 50 degree C. But, when it is cold and staying on traffic and then I should wait until my engine temperature increasing up to 105 degree C. I believe that there should be some solution.

Unfortunately, that is where the fan kicks on without the AC. Four options, aftermarket fan controller, put mechanical fan back on to help, find someone who knows how to reprogram the fan in the ECM, or just live with it since it will not hurt the car.

The M54s have an electronically controlled thermostat, and the operating temperature can be modified with some open source DME flashing. I, too, noticed this behavior in traffic, even with the mechanical fan attached. I never did figure out which parameters to change in the DME tune to force the fan on at my desired operating temperature, as the coolant temp would slowly rise from my desired 88ºC to 96ºC, at which point the DME would kick in the auxiliary cooling fan.

So yes, without some way to modify the DME's tune, I suspect you would need an aftermarket fan controller.

Might not hurt to send a message out to DUDMD or TerraPhantm. They know DMEs better than pretty much anyone.
