Cleaning up the intake to 2k satin clear it.
Used star bright marine aluminum cleaner and a brass brush first.
It took 3 good soakings and going over it with the brass brush and turned out with a nice uniform bright aluminum.
Painted with the 2k satin. Turned out just the right amount of shiny.
The 2k paint will give it far superior durability to oil and gasoline.

Serious confidence there, taking apart the fuel distributor! Awesome!
all that hard work will pay off, looks really good. wish you where in LOS ANGELES could use some help on mine.
You are doing amazing work on the cleaning, holy crap. The 2k satin... is that stuff prone to yellowing from heat? Have you used it before? That looks so great. I wish I did that instead of painting my valve cover.
Grade A work.
Thanks!
The 2k paint is real automotive grade clear. Made by SprayMax.
Has a catalyst you activate in the bottom of the can so it chemically hardens.
It shouldn't yellow over time.
The cans spray very nice fine mist.
Would recommend this any day over the normal air dry stuff.
They do cost about $18 a can though.

Yeah I am using the 2K epoxy primer from SprayMax for my body work on the e21. The spray pattern is pretty damn close to being as good as an actual hvlp gun.
Oh nice. Yeah i was pretty impressed all around with their products so far.
I picked up a can of the 2k epoxy to do some spot painting in the engine bay where it had rusted around the battery.
Just got to find enough spots to paint to get the best used out of the can.
Also picked up some engine bay color in a spray can. Trying real hard not to repaint everything lol.
Where did you find the spray and the cleaner? Checked my local auto store and they didn't have either .
I wish I saw this months back when I started my valve cover silver!!! It looks good but this looks so much better.
The star bright aluminum cleaner i got off amazon. But its pricey here.

A marine store local would have a similar product or here has a better price.

Same goes for he spray max clear coat.
Can get it on Amazon but its a bit pricey.
I started buying it through repaintsupply as they have better prices.

They also mix OE color code paint. Bought some for engine bay touch ups.
Got a few little things done.
Bolted the throttle body back on.
Used new stainless flanged nuts and stainless wave washers i picked up from McMasterCarr.
Got a new water divider in as the original one was ruined from corrosion.
Going to tap and plug the extra nipple with a 1/8th stainless pipe plug.
Little more progress.
Tapped the water divider for the plug.
Got to love the ease of tapping aluminum with a nice sharp tap.
Reassembling the Distributor after painting a few rusty parts.
Also took some 320 sandpaper and refinished the outside as it was looking a little rough.
Sliding the pickup and plug back on wasn't to bad. These little guy was a bit troublesome.
Felt like i was working on a watch.
Ready to go.
Copper crush washer to replace original washer that I snapped in half when i unscrewed it.
New oring. Old was flat and brittle.
