I am swapping in an S52 and the wiring will reuse the factory fuse location the relay is located in the harness from what I can tell so far. But I will make sure to do some testing once the harness is installed completely.

Here is my plug and play harness I have created.

    That looks nice!

And yes, the relays are on the engine harness.

Also Roadster harnesses are different from all the other E36 variants. If you use a Roadster harness beware.

Thanks for the heads up, but the harness is from a m3. I will be wrapping the wires once I know everything is working properly and also remove the labels.

hey pofo why bother with the C101 at all, just spice the engine harness directly unto the E21's C20f. doing it like you've done is redundant by having two disconnects within 6" of each other and then you still have to find a place to mount the huge C101.

That is a good idea and I may look into it as it is redundant. I was thinking of mounting a bracket on the side of the fuse box that it would clip on to. The only reason I was going this route is I wanted to add the data port but then I remembered recently about the one built into the engine harness.

Dumb question, but is that essentially an adapter to keep the E21 wiring harness in tact?

Yes it should be plug and play if I did it correctly. The engine harness has all its own power and ground connections, So this wiring controls the fuel, ignition, tach and ect.

The adapter keeps you from needing to cut the E36 engine harness. The E21 engine harness is removed, and the chassis harness doesn't need any mods because it just ends with the other half of that fusebox connector.
