I recently brought a 1999 540i and swaped an m62 from my 2000, everything works except windshield wipers and no spark, the fuel rail is getting fuel, but no spark, dont know if theres no fuel coming fuel comming from the injectors themselves. At first i was only getting a click so i changed the starter and same thing, led to gunk in the tps plug so now it turns over but wont start, even jumping it wont work but still got a new battery anyway, changed the fuses in the little box by the ecu and changed the fuses in the glove box for the immobilizer and engine control as well and new pump relay. Im really confused on this one, any suggestions?
Use the comfort feature and report back. Does it stop cranking after 8/10 starter revolutions?

It's an auto trans feature, you can flip from acc2 to start only clicking your key into start position and releasing, the car will crank until starting and then release the starter on its own.
If it stops cranking after a little, it means CPS is out.

Even if you're holding the key on the start position, a failed crankshaft position sensor (CPS) (aka Impulse generator or speed sensor) will cause the DME to cut the starter since it's not seeing any feedback. It's a common issue now that this cars are aging.
Don't go all mad on replacing it before testing it. I purchased 2 and the issue was crumbling weather isolation on the harness, allowing the terminals to develop some surface scaling. Repacked everything and used dielectric grease.
