I got 6 laps on the rears. 4 back-to-back laps in the AM. 2 in the PM. Laps separated by 5ish minutes. Lap length 1.25mi, all 2nd gear. It was an autocross so there were about 6 driftable corners or combinations separated by straights or non-driftable elements.Code:Tire: AUTOGRIP P308 Price: $228 out-the-door. 4x 225/45ZR18 Bought from: Evans Tires. Buy 2, get 2. Front/Rear: both Life span(1-5): 4 Forward grip (1-5): 3 Lateral grip (1-5): 3 Smoke(1-5): don't know Consistency through heat range: 5 Chunking? No Comments: I'm a drifting novice (autocross and track "veteran") without frame of reference. My subjective numbers are likely calibrated differently to the forum regulars.
I maybe had 3 passengers for all laps so lots of weight side to side. I'm wondering if I could have got more tire life if I let the rubber cool more between laps.

none
I'd say you got some pretty good life out of those, and they wore pretty evenly too. I'm about to order some burners soon, and this thread is very helpful! The tires I've been sliding on have just been whatever used tires came on the two sets of wheels I bought as burners. All of them so far have chuincked pretty bad and some delammed.. it's been Kind of a crapshow!

The guys at Tuner Tools told me yesterday they had gotten some very impressive wear from their Zenna Argus UHPs. With a turbo LS engine no less.
I run zennas, they're grippy till you get em melty hot then the last 15-20% are kinda greasy
Code:Tire: Federal 595 RS-R Price: $200 shipped for 2x (215/40/17) Bought from: ebay Front/Rear: Front Life span(1-5): 4? Ive been through 5-6 events as fronts and i drive 40 miles to and from the track as well as drive around town when i feel like driving the car. Forward grip (1-5): 4 Lateral grip (1-5):4 Smoke(1-5): N/A Consistency through heat range: good Comments: I have a terrible alignment on the car. ive taken it to get one and my tie-rods were seized. i have all the parts to overhaul the alighnment stuff but havent gotten around to it. I was dealing with mega understeer, even on a 245/40. i put these on and ive only under steered twice since. These things suck balls in the wet though, or maybe its my alighmment. it rained on the way to the last event and i was doing 30 on the highway hoping not to die.
I'm looking for some decent but cheap steer tires in 225/45r17. Considering some of the Velozza ZXV4s (I ran some half used 205/40r17s on the front and really liked them, so I'm kind of leaning in this direction other than the Achilles being cheaper), or maybe Achilles ATR Sport 1 or Sport 2s.
Anyone have anything to say about any of these as steer tires? Or maybe even Westlake SA07s or something else cheap?
Steer clear of west lakes, worst tires I've ever seen. Achilles are super grippy, I vote those
