    27bb error still coming back

    Hey all,

Had a 27bb error coming up indicating a problem with the camshaft control sensor exhaust.

Changed the sensor, found the old I removed didn't have a O ring seal either so replaced that too.

Still getting the error. I would of thought an error as specific as that was an easy fix! Or is it something further up the food chain causing a problem?

I also have a 27ec failure code too although through my cheap ODB reader it says its an O2 sensor no activity error.

The 27bb and 27ec errors came from BMW diag kit and Carly for BMW while the O2 sensor error came via a Maxiscan ODB reader.

    Welcome to the Forum!

And it keeps coming back even after you clear the code?

So who made the replacement sensor? Does the box say "Made in China" by chance?

    Thank you!

No it's a genuine BMW part from another 3 series which I'm told was working.

Ah, the old adage is a used part will only work as long as the original part. In other words, have you tested the sensor using a multimeter yet? Normally it should be 540 ohms +/- 10%.

Good tip, I will check tomorrow.

Would crappy spark plugs create a similar problem? Checking them tomorrow too as I don't know heir condition.

Idling can be very rough just above 600 revs.

Normally no, but a vacuum leak will cause a bad idle, and perhaps a dirty ISV.

Have you tested the wires thats are plugged into the sensor? You could have a break in the wiring. You need to trace and test the integrity of the wire all the way back to the DME. The sensor is most likely a hall effect sensor so if you have a scoope you can back probe the sensor to see if it is sending a sine signal to the DME.
