You might want to post this at your regional forum. Yes, I understand that a forum labeled "New York and New Jersey" isn't going to be concentrating on SW NY state, but it's worth a visit:

If you become a member of BMWCCA's chapter closest to you, you'll be able to get lots of good references there. You'll also get discounts on parts from the dealership and other sources, and the excellent "Roundel" magazine, all for $45 a year.

Finally, you might want to Google "BIMRS", which can lead you to BMW specialist independent shops in your area.
