    Performance upgrade

Hi ive got 2 m20b20 engines, one im about to drop into my 318 and one im going to rebuild eventually, i want to get alot of power outve the b20 mainly because its not very common, but i want a decent amount of power straight away so what would head upgrades/bolt ons could i do to make abit more power ( around 225hp )

    You're going to need boost.

That's the only way you're achieving your goal without touching the bottom end. 225hp won't happen on a 2.5l with just head upgrades/bolt ons and it sure won't happen with a 2.0l. Maybe a 2.5l with a roller cam conversion, 8k rpm, engine management, and ITBs... but if you do all that you might as well do a 2.8+ stroker.
If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...

You have to realize you're starting with 127hp. Your biggest, easiest horsepower boost is finding a m20b25. 127 -> 168hp. That's a 40hp increase and the whole motor is going to cost you less than a good cam.

You might see 20hp with cam, injectors, exhaust, and a chip. And you've spent over $2000 to do that.

its big $$$ to get good power and it becomes less and less street friendly.

Unfortunately the 80mm bore is a terrible start point as it limits what you can do with the head work. it would be an awesome project to build a small high revving m20 and smoke S14's all day long but then you will realise for not much more you can have a whole bunch more cubic inches building a stroker and it will be much more effortless performance

swap the diff with 4.27 or 4.44 ratio and remove a whole bunch of weight that will get it moving quicker. making more topend power wont help you at the bottom end of power curve

    Danny,

I would agree with what everyone has said. If you're just looking to get extra go off the line, go with a shorter differential.

However, I understand you're looking for uniqueness. There's maybe two or three b20's with turbo systems on r3v producing as much as 200 whp.

If you're on a budget, go with the b25.
