Hi all, Im new to this site as i have just purchased a BMW325i e56 2001 which seems to have some kind of M-sport package fitted to it as the rims have a sticker imbeded in them. Anyway i dont know much about the "M" and my question is, is their any credibility for kitting out my car with m badges and other accessories, including the rear badge. Would this simply make me look like a dick to well informed BMW and car enthusiasts or will it be ok, or even good. Thanks

My personal opinion:
Do what makes you feel good. If you like that your car has the //M badge on the rear, do it. Will others make fun of it (including me) yup. But, does that really matter to you? Only you can answer that. Example: I have a 330ci, I installed //M side mirrors and the //M rocker panels. I did it because I liked how these pieces flowed better with the overall contour of the car. Did I put the //M badge on the back, no. Do I care if someone says I'm trying to be an //M when it's not one? I really don't care about the opinion of others because I'm comfortable in what I like and don't need validation from others. Will I eventually change the front bumper and the hood with //M pieces... maybe.
Others will say it's annoying when people do this, that if they wanted an //M, they should get one and not be a poser. That's their opinion, which they are entitled to. Their opinion weighs the same as yours. Regardless of what you decide, you already made a good decision to get a BMW. Now go enjoy it

All it means at this point is that you have some 'M' rims. Do some research as to what other 'M' parts may or may not be installed on your particular vehicle.
Adding 'M' badges? Your car, your call.

I got my son a 2001 E46 as well. They are nice cars and drive very well. In fact, I recently bought myself and E90 325i and really like the way the E46 drives better. I need to find out if there's any way to get an E90 drivetrain into an E46.
In any case, your car, your call.
