JR does mostly bar and very little spring. Jussayin.

Apples to oranges there though, Vaughns car makes 1000+hp and alll the grip, mine will make a quarter of that. I'll end up running the m3 rear sway bar and no front bar once it's done.

    also.
VGJr doesn't run an LS, JZ, or m5x.
his car is hideous. it sits awful. his RTR FD machine looks like a rebodied trophy truck. i understand it's built to win. but drifting that ugly is a Pyrrhic win at very best.

he seems like a nice guy. and i like that he's involved in multiple disciplines of motorsport. but F Me. his car is so ugly. bring back the DA fox body.

Well, if that is JR, then to me it seems like a lot of bar and little spring seems like a bad way to setup a drift car. His current car looks like a real pain to drive compared to the bimmers and S-chassis. No wonder Chelsea says his car setup is rapidly diverging from Vaughn's.

I actually think the car looks good. 3 wheeling looks funny but if it works it works.

Someone explain to me how the 3 wheeling even works.
I've always felt like I needed more front grip drifting and here they are lifting a wheel up...

Build your car for grip and throw 1000whp in it.

At high angles, your wheels are pointed very different directions anyway. The point is to give the leading wheel (that's doing all the work) the contact and just screw the one that would be scrubbing anyway. It's a dirt track thing that is very well tried and true.

I never really thought about it, but Ackerman wouldn't be nearly as important in one of those cars. I've never really paid attention to if they are that much faster at angle then regular 4 wheel deals, I'll have to keep an eye out for it at Orlando

I dunno about faster. I think it's just more controllable. Ackerman is still important. It's not like you're always three wheeling.

could anyone point me in the direction of some decent turbo kits for an M54? I am debating going turbo vs the ZF supercharger kit vs swapping.

I don't know how well the m54 responds to boost/ FI related mods. I've heard that when you remove the headbolts, you have to helicoil all the threads because they tear out. YMMV. I'd say do the 1j, it'll be better in the long run.

Yeah, I read after posting this that the M54 is an aluminum block that does not like boost much. Oh Well!

Believe me, I still very much want to go JZ. The issue is that this is supposed to be a "street car" and Denver has emissions, emissions that no e46 with a JZ could ever pass. So it's either do something else, or give up on it being a street car.

Register that bish at my house.
indiana tags are hideous, but we don't have emissions or inspections.

You could put an m52 iron block in, and keep all of the m54 accessories/ emissions equipment. No one would be the wiser. I'm fairly certain they're compatible in some fashion.

I don't think M52TUs came iron block. You'd have to go back to the regular M52. But the head is different and none of the stuff is compatible. It wouldn't pass emissions at all.
