    FYI Re: Control Arms

Hey guys, maybe something, maybe nothing, but I just wanted to give a heads up. I needed to do the ball joints on the '01 325i and while searching for parts, I checked NAPA just for the heck of it and found that they have control arms, including both joints and the CAB for the internet price of $146 each. Part numbers are 620-5509 and 620-5510.

e39 has a different setup from e46 which uses single boomerang shaped arm.
OP, ball joints could be purchased separately (~$20 per) and pressed into your control arms... that's if you have an ability to do that obviously.

Add the e46 to the My Cars info in your Profile, that's the cause of confusion, this is the e46 forum.

Did you use WorldPac at home?
Or are you a pro mechanic with a shop?

I understand that this may be old new for some, but some new comers might find it useful.

I do realize that just changing the joints would have been cheaper, but I figured that since they had been on there for 16+ years I'd go ahead and change them. Besides, when they've been on there that long, removing ball joints is sometimes easier said than done.

Shoot, I had to use a pressing tool AND a torch just to get the control arm out.
