Hey guys, maybe something, maybe nothing, but I just wanted to give a heads up. I needed to do the ball joints on the '01 325i and while searching for parts, I checked NAPA just for the heck of it and found that they have control arms, including both joints and the CAB for the internet price of $146 each. Part numbers are 620-5509 and 620-5510.
old news but thank you for heads up. I just changed front lowers because of bushings ,cheaper and faster re and re with complete unit.I used from Worldpac, lot cheaper and they have option on bunch of l after market, Euro market and OEM.
but you must be registered auto repair shop.
i have both 2002 330I and 98 528I I was taking about E 46 , maybe I was in different forum ? this is E46 is it?
Add the e46 to the My Cars info in your Profile, that's the cause of confusion, this is the e46 forum.
E39 DIYs done: Wipers, O2 sensors , MAF , Upper/Lower Intake Boots , FSU , ABS module fix , Power Steering Reservoir , Changed Rear Differential Oil , DISA , SAP, Vacuum lines , Radar Detector Hardwire , Fuel Filter , LED Angel Eyes , Headlight Adjusters--> [1],[2], [3] , Headlight Polishing, Punted: Fan Clutch/Tensioner/Pulleys , Oil cap O-rings , Window regulator ,Crumbling Cowl
I understand that this may be old new for some, but some new comers might find it useful.
I do realize that just changing the joints would have been cheaper, but I figured that since they had been on there for 16+ years I'd go ahead and change them. Besides, when they've been on there that long, removing ball joints is sometimes easier said than done.
Shoot, I had to use a pressing tool AND a torch just to get the control arm out.
onthefence,I'm not in mechanics shop , I'm working in auto body shop and they are approved by Worldpac. I do 99.% work on my German jalopies my self after work/weekends at our shop. we have one hoist so that helps.
