BMW Factory Ipod Interface Questions

I have a 2006 M5 with Idrive and a factory ipod interface. This thing is a bit tricky to use. The knob when I turn it only shows 5 items at a time and I have to "force" turn it to get it to cycle. There seems no efficient way to get to sort through music. Its quite a pain.......And when I do cycle it seems to stop on artist with the name of c even though I artists through the letter Z on the unit. Any suggestions on how to best use this interface.....or better yet and quality more up to date upgrades.....

I have an 06 M5 with a BMW factory iPod interface that replaced the 6 disc changer. I have found this to be a very inefficient way to access my music. It's takes a ton of time to sort through the music I have. The idrive knob has to be forced down to go through all the available titles. Also it only lets me sort to the letter C even though I have many more titles. Any recommendations on how to get the best functionality out of this device or recommendations on other more functional aftermarket devices or set ups would be appreciated.
