    Oil change

So the other day I did my oil change. First time since I bought my car. I noticed it still said 10000 miles till oil change. I figured that was wrong so I changed it anyway. Filter looked decent was kinda twisted when I took it out, any idea why? Well I reset my oil change service info and it went to 16000 miles till next change..... Hmmmm that seems a little much. Why are these cars set up like that? Shouldn't you be changing oil every 5-8000 miles for synthetics? I'm more of a 5000 guy lol. I used Castro edge 0W-40 Euro formula. And used a man filter. I'm a little concerned about the twisted filter. It was a fram filter I looked up the number on it and it is for my E60 525xi, any input??

Think you answered your question when you said Fram filter, won't have that problem with a Mann. Mann is a OE supplier of filters to BMW.

15k miles or 1 year is the BMW oil service interval, started under free service. If you plan on keeping the car, a 7500 mile interval is more realistic. I personally do sooner, oil and filters are cheep, engines are expensive...

Yeah I heard fram filters are shit. And like I said I rather do the oil changes every 5000 just what I'm used to doing. Just like you said filter and oil is a lot cheaper then a new motor lol. I just wasn't sure if it was because it was a shit filter or maybe something else.

I'm pretty sure that the service info alternates between oil and inspection services.
That's why the reset seems confusing. I applaud your oil change intervals.
My recommended schedule is:7500mi.,or first day of Spring & first day of Fall.

Well thank you. Yeah I always did my oil changes on my pickup truck every 5000, if I went over I never went past 6500.. I plan on keeping this car for awhile. It just turned 110k.
