I tried searching but didn't have great luck.
What's everyone using for their E36 LS swapped cars?
Looking at getting a 450 ish hp built LS1. Will a standard T56 work? I don't feel like spending $3K plus on and T56 magnum.
I'll be using the CX racing swap kit from ebay.
What TOB and bellhousings are popular?
And lastly, where should I be looking for used T56s?
Most use a t56. You can also go with a cd009 out if a 350z with an adapter kit from Collins adapters. Very good trans like the t56

thats going rate for a t56. were doing a cd009 right now in a friends car with the collins kit. only thing is his lacking customer service. website states parts on shelf ready to ship, not the case. been 3 weeks and still waiting...
Yeah used T56 are just too much. That's why I don't mind spending the extra 1000$ on a Magnum
TKO500 or TKO600 would be another option as well, probably a similar price to a T56 though, and tougher to find, but should handle your horsepower level no problem.

Be diligent and be ready to scoop up a good deal when they pop up.
t56s are pulling a premium and we've got way more than 3 weeks til racewars.
i got my level 2, 0 mile GTO t56 from a rebuilder for $2300. Right place, right time.
Stock t56 LS1 bell housing will suffice, but if you're gonna drag it, I'd look into an SFI bellhousing.
stock GM tob from Tick Performance went into mine. Been fine so far. Order the shim kit too unless you're using a stock clutch. (I have a Monster, so I had to shim the TOB)
always trying to make it lighter and faster

Once and awhile there is a T56 on LS Tech. I looked for quite some time and ended up buying a new magnum. I had 73 Z28 LS3 swap with a TKO 600. It was like shifting a truck trans compared to the T56. I don't think you could break it but the T56 is so much better shifting.
