I did some tuning for a guy last year that had one of these mounted under the dashboard of the car and hard wired to the battery. It's about 5x5 inches. Worked really well.

He had like a 9" touchscreen mounted in the dash and he kept a wireless keyboard and mouse to work with it between runs. I don't want the screen in my dash but I'm planning to get a 14" laptop that I can hardwire and make a holder for it on the passenger side of the trans tunnel to keep it handy.
I like how small those units are but prefer windows or even linux over chrome os or any type of "mobile style'' environment. Windows has been around forever so there's a ton of third party applications available
Laptops always work well. I had one in the car years ago but I got tired of fiddling with it.
Best bang for the buck would be to get $100 head unit and build a PC from a MiniITX form factor.
You could always run raspberry pi as well if you want really small
I'm not sure if that is the same one he had. His did have windows on it. I even remote tuned it a couple times. He would hot spot it off his phone and I would log in it remotely to pull the datalogs off, make changes to the tune on my PC and save a tune back out to it. It was a neat experience tuning a car from 1000 miles away when I didn't even get to see the pass.
Yeah its neat having the tuner be able to remote into the car whenever its needed
Here's a good video of the onboard computer working. Start up and shutdown, etc...
I hope you guys watch that video til the end...
Epicness ahead

The blocks that I have are also slightly loose on my cams, nothing a feeler gauge can’t fix if you want the cams set to be set exactly to NA specs. Better yet, you could degree them and set them exactly where you want them.

The ones I have used had a very sloppy fit so I made my own adjustable one. Just wanted to note you can't time them by laying something across the top, they are not perpendicular to the sides on most cams.
I used a piece of 1/4” key stock and some well placed C-clamps to do mine.
Seemed to work OK, but that was when I was rebuilding my M52, non-turbo. Maybe I got lucky??
