I had never built a motor either.
Until I did.
Now it is holding 20+psi from a s366sxe. It isn't rocket science, just gotta put the time in to learning.
It's the 3rd time that gets you. The second time with herpes is rough too.
Plasti-gauge and a good set of feeler gauges and you'll be fine.
Yeah, make sure you use the thickest gauges, best for those deep back scratches.

that too
Anyone have pics of waste gate side exit exhaust?
Someone here has piping exiting through their front right jack point? The hole that is, would like to do the same. Think it was Mylo but can't remember. Would like to know how he did it
Trying to wrap up my exhaust project today.
Wasn't happy with running 2.5 all the way back. But its all that will fit as far as a DP because of the waste gate placement.
So I grabbed a magna flow catalytic converter, hollow it out and welded it immediately after the DP clears the WG. Should be almost 4" in diameter when hollowed. Cat then goes straight to 2.5 to dual 2.5" outlets and then from there dual 2.5" straight back to glass packs. Ill post pics when done. Can't hate on my flux welds though
I have the option to run pipes both the left side and ride side of the bumper. But left side would right on the gas tank which concerns me. What do you guys think? Keep it OEM or try to run them like this:

Look in Mylo thread. Not sure which one of us decided on that, but we did that on his car.

For looks, I like the dual myself
Exhaust is getting there. Sounds great none the less and I can actually hear the turbo spool at idle.
Went with tail pipes on both sides of the car like the pic posted above. Just have to find a way to make sure the fuel lines on the right side don't get too hot.

Definetly can hear that little "wisp" without load now. Which I like. Means it should be free-flowing pretty good with little back pressure
Did you end up using the 3” downpipe you bought? How did it fit if so.
Sounds wicked!
wow just read all the posts from begging to now and never new guys like you existed, tearing down a whole car to bare metal, removing all the interior then engine, transmission rebuilding everything opening the engine apart and just rebuilding everything, seems like something that would take me almost two years to all do, didnt know guys were sooooo dedicated to rebuilding a machine. what got me even harder was you guys throw in thousands of dollars just to get the thing to go faster, like wow that is dedication. i too have an m52 but never in the world would think about tearing the engine or transmission apart. i just want to drive the car not spend months and months to get it to peform quicker. props to you for having the dough and time for a turbo build. honestly seems way to complicated to me, dont even know what arp studs are or something called a borg warner.
Those borg warner thingies are cool.
