Sweet! I know your enjoying it
Anyone else have problems with the ZF grinding while trying to upshift under heavy load?
Took a few friends out the other weekend and really, really dug into it.
Stretched 1st, 2nd, 3rd to red line / did some power burnouts
Now it grinds if load is applied and then shifting...
Time for a new ZF? Just changed to fluid to see if helps
Time for a stronger alternative :devilook

Uh oh.. here comes the 22rpd adapter. Plate. Haha
I just took it out it just seems so damn notchy. It's like you have to time perfectly when to shift and cant just throw it in whenever
Also got some weird vibration in the rear when starting from a stop. Only happens when at certain friction point though on the clutch pedal. If I over rev and let off the clutch it doesnt happen.

Glad you are enjoying it! Your build has been a good guide and inspiration for me so far. A few quick questions...
1. Did you end up using that new egg downpipe?
2. How do you find the clutch pedal feel of the stage 3 clutch kit? With no break in, mine is really heavy and just trying to tell if that is normal or if one of my bearings or the fork is binding or something.

1. I didn't use the down pipe. 3" DP wouldn't clear my trans. I would have to pie to clear it. So I went with 2.5" DP that opens up into (2) 2.5" pipes.
2. Clutch is pretty heavy for the most part. Even when broken in - Not sure how long its going to hold up either seems to slip a bit under full power
Thought I'd post since its been awhile. Hope everyone is doing well...
Been driving the car as much as I can, still around 7-10 to PSI, believe it or not. The small back housing makes it extremely fun and driveable on the street; Car seems to boost instantly. Spraying a lot of Meth with AFRS tapering into 10's with only occasional idling issues where they hang 16 after driven hard but they return to 14 shortly after. Could be vacuum leak when warm, haven't had time to check
Started wet sanding and buffing the clear coat which is really bringing the shine out and also working on finding a couple loose odds and ends that are missing from the car. Restored my CF Hood, fitment is horrible though, but it's light, so who cares.
Working on getting the car street legal again. I was dumb and did side exit exhaust thinking it would pass inspection, it won't. So now I have to redo it, the way they want it . VA inspections suck, don't live here.
Future endeavors include upping the hot side AR to around .80 or so. EGT's have me a bit worried with such a small back housing. Didn't think about this upon purchasing the .58, just wanted instant boost
and
Pretty suire the trans / rear isn't going to hold up much longer so will probably have to do something with them soon

Just went trough all 67pages off this thread, awesome thread, cool car!
I need to get mine back on the road to make me smile again.
one question, have you desided on your diff? I would like to rebuild my 188, but I have seen vollosso/Zack(?)
talk about 2/3/4 clutch plates for this. can you or someone clarify what that means? and where to look for if I want to buy this?
Yeah inside your factory diff you have 2 clutches that make the diff lock.
If you pull out a spacer you can stick a third clutch pack in there.
If you machine the cap and pull the washer you can get a 4th clutch pack.
Every pack increases the lockup. The more lockup the straighter it will come out of the hole and less dramatic it will be when it comes loose.
Your factory clutches are likely worn so it really probably needs one set anyway.

Thanks for the info Zack.
Pretty sure my diff is done. Acts really weird from a stop, juttering violently
Finally went and got the car inspected today... did better than what I thought it would. Just have to throw a steering wheel with an air bag on it and fix the power steering leak and she'll be road legal for a whole year
Got away with an open wastegate though

I don’t see how they are really of any benefit. I would probably stick with oem style disks. Your call though.
Hey that’s good news on the inspection.
Diffs can act pretty funny when they don’t load up properly.

Mine is more smooth when letting of the clutch quickly but if try to baby it you can hear the fly wheel chatter and it bucks. I was thinking that I didn't break the clutch in properly.
I had a new clutch and as soon as I got the tune installed I put power the wheels, was anxious

Latest Pic, love the way the front of it looks (with a nice VA REJECTION sticker) - around 2,300 (1900 of which in boost, lol) miles of FI life

Car finally passed inspection. Took a week but with persistence, got it.
Can drive the car without being pulled over now.
Inspector said " well your legal now but I cant guarantee you wont get in trouble " as he looked at the car
Think he admired it lol

you lucky bastard
I didn't feel the admiration when mine went through it's second check up, guy hated it. but had too approve it because it reached the demands.
enjoy driving her, car looks great!
I had a customer pass sniff test emissions on Friday.. without a catalytic converter.

Lol,
Yeah, the first time I took he failed it because of the power steering clamps, leaking fluid and the SRS steering wheel was removed. Fixed the leak and put the OEM wheel back on, car sat at his shop for 4 days before he even looked at it.
Then tried to fail it because the wheels apparently are sticking out too far from the fenders so I removed the spacers at his shop and it passed.
3,000 or so miles on the car, still on a 7 PSI spring with an EBC. I've hit 14 PSI under heavy load but it doesn't hit as hard with the 7lb spring

Nice, luckily in my area we don't have emission testing (yet) otherwise I'd be screwed. By the time they enforce here my car will be an antique and I won't have to get it inspected at all, 2 years and counting.
