Compared to the cluster FK many many pages back, I think this young pup is doing well. Looks good.

Nice!!
wrapping the cold side? Benefits? New to me
Thanks!
All depends on your setup really:
I could see very to little no benefit if your top mount as your taking in the air from your engine bay (and the DP is under the hood as well and that thing gets scorching hot)
With a bottom mount and especially if the charge piping is under the car in the Winter months here in Virginia with ambient temp of 30 degrees and below I could definitely see a benefit as long as your intake piping is drawing in ambient temp from outside the car as the engine bay temps are higher (and could heat the pipe).
If I were you I would wrap the down pipe. I saw 200+ degree differences on my exhaust manifold wrapped vs not.
not wrapped = 450-500 degrees
wrapped = 200-250 degrees
In your case your dumping 500 degree heat into your engine bay and it has no where to go.
Somebody here noticed an improvement at the track with a wrapped pipe
Decided to really get into the car today, dumped first and second for the first time. Car started going completely sideways so I had to let off.
I've had my fair share of encounters as a youngin'

Makes sense
my down pipe is wrapped and blanket on turbo. The headlight cut out is nice being the fresh air goes direct to turbo filter
definitely more power and seams to spool quicker
Regarding side ways, lol, the cars like it and are controlable
glad your enjoying!
hooe to mail wheel this week
Didn't feel too controllable too me, the more gas the more sideways.
Thank you
Upgrading your LSD will keep you much more straight. For example, 3 clutch the car still kicks, but 1/2 as much as 2 clutch. 4 clutch the tires spin and you stay straight. This has been my experience with probably 15 LSD upgrades I've done 3/4 clutch.

I was concerned that the 4-clutch would be twitchy transitioning on/off/on power but I have not found that to be the case. It's pretty predictable. What's another $500 or so anyway?

I'll mess with the diff eventually but right now I am absolutely enjoying/loving this car now that its solid.
Just took the car out again, cant stay out of it. I keep finding reasons to go into town. And I'm pretty sure the cars doing 0-60 in 3.5 - 4 seconds according to a video I recorded (and that's with some slip) pretty impressive if you ask me. I can't imaging what 12+ PSI is going feel like.
But I wanted to upload pic of drain with the $16 SPA flange installed, puts the hose right where it needs to be and don't have to use as much rubber as the flange is pretty long.
Once the car is street worthy and I get all the little bits and pieces I need to finish it, I probably wont drive any other of my vehicles for awhile.
Its awesome telling everyone that I built the car. And there even more surprised when they tell them how I learned to do it and how people I've never even met have taken time to help me so much

I think the cold weather is really making the turbo scream. Can't wait till it gets cold out, I have reasons to look forward to winter now, ha

More power and colder tires is not the best combo but will make your car feel faster.

Didn't think about tires... just cold air for turbo. So I guess temps now are about near perfect

Today I went at it with a fox body, put many busses on his loud thing. ...... But these 265 888's aren't hooking like I hoped. It was probably 65F out, and third gear had no chance at around 21-23#. Car was fully warn, but only drive about a mile. So maybe the tires were cold. Dunno

All good stuff, Butters hooked me up with a nice stage 4 and I love it
i come out of turns on the track in 3rd gear breaking loose and continue in 4th and don't let off.
5th gear red line at 135 mph on straight away. I'm gonna need another gear, lol
i always say my next run I'm gonna go easy but it never happens. I feel like I beat the crap out of the car, but it feels so good. Street driving doesn't even do it after the track. Now it's all about adjustments for handling
sorry about blowing up your thread but I can relate. I am amazed I did This build, but only cause of all the people on this forum!!
Welded diffs are almost free, and put down power very very nicely.
How is the vented turbo drain line working out so far? That's a very interesting idea I never thought of!
I've read quite a few pros and cons of welding the diff. I didn't really like what I had read when a few people said they were going around sharp turns and similar obstacles. For straight lines, welded diff would be the way to go but I have a bunch of curvy back roads in my area so I'm not so sure about it.
All credit goes to Butters on the turbo vent and no issues as long as the vent is long and sits as high as possible in the engine bay. It was nerve racking tapping the oil drain bolt with the pan still on but it was totally doable.
I used a scavenge pump and a hose in the dipstick tube hole to flush the pan. Mineral Spirits/Reducer or and whatever else I had lying around as solvent. Put oil in ran it for 30 or so miles, drained it and then put fresh oil back in.
I don't think you are running 3.5-4.0 to 60 on street tires with 7 psi and a stock M3 diff. The hardest part of driving these cars fast is hooking up off the line. I figure that my 11.5 second quarters at 130+ are about 3.5-4 seconds to 60. The slip does not say but it does give 1/8 and I am usually in the mid to high 7s at just over 100 so I figure 3.5 to 60 and another 4.0 60-100.
Are you still on a stock 328i auto trans? If so, that will fail soon with the torque you have even at 7 psi.
