I think you can safely ignore that MY750il guy. As far as I can gather, he was dismayed that his 10 year old car didn't work like a brand new one and was paying dealership rates for wiper blade changes.
Did you check out Shogun's site and bmwe32.masscom.net yet? TONS of very detailed and well written DIYs there.
Just an FYI, to get at the belts and rad hoses you need to pull the fan/clutch/shroud. The fan and clutch come off as a unit but you need a 32mm open ended wrench and something (i.e, big screwdriver) to counterhold the water pump pulley bolts with. The big 32mm fan clutch nut is REVERSE threaded, so righty-loosey. The trans has a drain plug and you fill through the dipstick tube, the oil filter is in a canister up top so you can change both the trans fluid and the oil real easy. Oil filters are 750iL specific so a bit hard to find, might want to get one from FCPEuro or your other favorite online store before heading out.
When are you flying out? I live just north of LA and have some time off next week so if you need a friendly driveway to do some basic maintenance work, some tools and a beer I can help out.

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
I can't speak for the 750 (roughly double everything the 735 has), but the 735 has not been very troublesome at all. yes it has it's fair share of leaks, cosmetic problems, and electronic gremlins, but nothing terrible and certainly nothing that would leave me stranded. From what I remember (could be wrong), 4hp22 and 4hp24 can go long, long time if they had regular fluid changes and not revved in neutral.
That being said, if this guy has no documentation for his 750, run far far away as it will eat you alive. My 735 had a little logbook in its glove compartment of what items were changed and at what mileage it was done, which was some comfort. I would press for service records.

Congrats on the purchase. Car looks nice judging from the old vid.
My '99 Mercedes E320 specifys no trans oil change, so when I bot it 3 years ago at 421k, the motor was newer, but despite the well maintained condition, the trans oil was BLACK! Not burned, just full of worn oxidated clutch material. So despite being advised to leave it alone, I dumped the pan, nothing scary inside, and the tork convertor has a drain plug, so I pretty much got 99% of the oil out. It has always shifted well, and I dumped the oil after a few thousand more miles. Its pretty red now, and still shifts the same 12k miles later... I used the fancy Boots on Euro oil the 1st time, $9 qt, but used Valvoline Dexron the 2nd time, it says compatible, and that was a few thous miles ago. I wonder what the difference is? If it's "longer lasting", I'm happier changing it again, and I'll never put on huge mileage like how I bot it. I got a universal dipstick from ebay, $12 delivered, same one the Mercedes dealer used.
The 750il specs plain old Dexron III, but anything newer is fine of course. I believe every 60k "Inspection 2" was the requirement, so it was probably changed at least once in its life.
Red bottle MaxLife is frequently used to replace "lifetime" fluids in almost all 90's-2000 German cars. It's a perfectly fine substitute.

I can't remember what I used, but I don't think it was the red bottle-Max Life. But I'll prolly change it again. Now that I think about it, I used plain old Dexron, but due to the extreme miles, I never beat on it
MercedesSource just posted this on ytube, I didn't watch it yet, here's the link

Maybe that's the problem, I never sell anything
+1 on the Valvoline maxlife, it saved the transmission in my old E39 wagon. Still going strong and shifting well for the new owner 80k miles later (with several drain/fill cycles in between).

Did you buy the extra long ebay universal dipstick? Pain to fill, it's so slow due to the narrow (non) dipstick tube
My '99 has a tube, it's a little smaller than your standard dipstick tube, and I tried snaking a speedometer cable down there, but it wouldn't go down due to the tite bends. the universal eBay "stick" is much more flexible, it's too long, but it doesn't matter because the plastic tip bottoms on the pan anyways.
Glad to see some benz guys here too......wondering if anybody has experience with the 190E 2.6 M103 engine, could use guidance on my other project there and benz forums are less than helpful.
To be honest, I'm a Corvair guy, and old tyme GM guy. The Mercedes was just happenstance, but except for the nuisance PO400 EGR and rear wiper that wouldn't turn off, it's been a nice cheap ride
P cars???
Porsche? I've never even driven in one!
Any updates on the tow hitch? The car is still listed for sale on CL, it appears.
You've got a pretty big YouTube channel, no doubt you're capable of handling an E32 from what I see there. Pretty neat how you've recorded everyday and fun car experiences.

If you've pulled the trigger, here's some transmission info. Remember, there's lots of stories, and not too many actual drivers out there. Take care of the vehicle, and it takes care of you.
