Constant blinking switch, nothing seems to fix it so far...
We just got a 97 328 vert as a beater to take the dogs around and, of course, the convertible top doesnt work. I do know the top was replaced relatively recently so something may have been done wrong there. It is a full auto top and the switch light just constantly blinks any time the ignition is on and makes no attempt at locking the tonneau cover or closing the top when I manually put it down and try to resync the motors. So; what have I done so far...
- Manually cranked the top latch open, released the motors, and stowed the top manually.
- Tested the toneau micro switch, it seems to have no effect on the trunk locking/unlocking
- Tested the micro switch in the trunk latch by just manually pressing it with the trunk open with a flathead and that had no effect on the switch blinking (I was thinking it may be blinking to indicate it thinks the trunk is open)
- Went through the resync procedure after locking the motors back in, while holding the up button, after about 12 seconds the switch stops blinking for a moment, but resumes again and continues to do so for as long as I have held down the up button (a minute or two)
Not sure what to do - its a car that probably just isnt worth having a real mechanic spend hours diagnosing the top issue, so I will take any advice you may have!
