Does anyone know how to complete the stomp test on a manual car? I have been looking for an answer but have yet to find one?
If you find out let me know. I have never been able to get the stomp test to work in my manual car.
I think the stomp test is the same for all pre-OBDII BMW's. Ignition on, stomp throttle to the floor five times within five seconds, count the flashes to the get the four digit code. See more here http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech...de_Reading.htm.
On my '95 3 series the stomp test worked in the past and then would not work when I tried it recently. I found the throttle cable had stretched/loosened so when I stomped the gas pedal it did not fully open the throttle. The TPS (throttle position sensor) did not send a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) signal to the computer. I adjusted the cable and the stomp test works again.
So, if you cannot get the stomp test to work, check the throttle cable and then the TPS.
The timing of the stomps is a pain, seems to be more difficult in M70 cars.
I can get the stomp test to read out codes, but I cannot clear them using the 10 sec step.
For that I always have in my glovebox a Peake code reader, small, convenient and helps in most cases https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tec...ading/pic3.jpg
reads, resets.
