Speedometer reads high

Recently purchased 2013 328I. Have noticed that the speedometer reads 4 to 5% higher. Speedometer reads 80mph when actual speed is 76mph. Called dealer to see if speedometer could be calibrated and was told no calibration could be done and that higher readings than actual was normal. Has anyone experienced this? Can't believe BMW would produce a vehicle with an inaccurate speedometer.

After posting forum directed me to similar posts. I guess BMW does produce them with a speedometer witch reads higher than actual speed.
Wish they could be calibrated.

Completely normal. So what if it reads 5% high? It could keep you out of a speeding ticket.

As has been said, this is normal, but wheel size also effects the reading. If it bothers you, you can go with a different diameter tires to adjust the reading.
