08 BMW X3 no crank no start

Hey guys need some help...... went to the store the other night came out no start no crank. The elm light is on, brake, 4x4 and services engine soon are all on.The shifter to tell you what gear your in comes on for a sec with the p then goes off. I have tryed new battery, new starter, tryed both keys but are the old ones we have always had, dme relay is good, ignition lock and switch are good. Help got to get it back running.

I had to replace my ECU, which I burnt out the circuit to my starter since I tried to start it so many times with frozen oil it wrecked the connection. Do not pay $300 for an ECU, just find one used on ebay for your model year. You can still ahve this problem even if your ecu is working in other respects since its just the starter connection that can fry. Thats what it was for me anyway!

I can guarantee you its the chassis ground strap. I've seen this plenty on x3. They corrode and dont have a good connection therefore no ground to your statter. Try wiggling it or cleaning it before you purchase a new one.
