Just ordered a new 2017 3-series for my wife, wondering what the community thinks about the additional maintenance and warranty options BMW is offering these days.
1. Included maintenance for 2017 is now only 3 years/36k miles and does not include brakes or wiper blades. You can add on the brakes and wiper blades for $600 or do that and extend to 4 years/48k miles for just over $2k. Additional years are available too.
- likely will add on for the 4 years, not sure about beyond that.
2. Tire and wheel protection, almost $2k, covers tire and rim replacement due to damage, but not cosmetic damage. Doubt we will get this.
3. Extended warranty. We do plan on keeping the car for much longer than 4 years, but not sure if this is worth it or not.
thoughts? Anyone have any experience with these programs?
thanks

I would say adding he 4 yrs is a good call and I would stay away from the tire and wheel protection. There are so many stipulations included that it becomes almost worthless (tread wear, etc). I worked in the powersports industry for a long time and I always recommended the extended warranty, it's extremely valuable in my opinion when it comes to surprise issues. The brakes and wiper blade coverage is really at your discretion for what it's worth. Just my opinions, good luck!

I would just do the four years, and only then because the engines in these new models are pretty complex and probably still have some bugs to be worked out

In 10 years of ownership I've spent about 2k total on repairs. In >MY< experience, extended warranties are a waste of money.
However, some here will swear on them. My best advice...flip a coin.
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.
Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.
