E 38 manual needs to pass emissions

I picked up a 6speed swapped e38 2 years ago. now it's time to go through emissions but the car won't pass as i thinks it has been reflashed but the gear selector was still hooked up? I just need to pass emissions. I don't need Cruise reverse lights etc . If someone in the New England or east coast can help me get through this that would be excellent . I've seen the posts about jumping things etc .. would rather just have someone do the work . Thanks in advance . Ben

If it's been flashed properly gear selector wouldn't be in place or connected or jumped to make the car believe it's in N or P

You may want to go thru flashing and coding sequence yourself from the beginning as if you did the swap, that way you will make sure everything is properly coded/flashed/whatever.

Also if it wasn't flashed correctly, that means it might be running on old wiring configuration, ignition specifically. You will want to check rewiring EWS and ignition in order to work with 540i dme flash.

So the Check Engine light is on? Sounds like just the "wire twist" was done. To get the SES light out to proper wire changes will need to be made and a DME flash will have to be done.
You could check with your inspection station to see if they will pass it because its a transmission code instead of an emissions code.

Hartford is an hour from me. I need to get rid of the heater circuit malfuntion codes that are producing the CEL.

$350 on ebay
was $200 but i guess they fly off the shelf
some guy in ri makes them and sells em

I can code, but I'm about 15 min south of hartford, so quite a ways from Norwalk.

OP did you buy Derek's blue E38 manual swap? I coded that thing. I thought all was good?

You guys make me laugh.

An hour drive? That's like going down the street for us westerners, even in LA. Sitting in LA traffic for an hour is normal here. I drive 1.5 hours to work if I have to go in morning traffic. Just drive...

I think if you connect RI and CT together they're still smaller than all of the LA/San Diego metro area.

Or you can use an old laptop that you don't need anymore, Re-format the drive, reinstall the Windows it came with and order a $10-30 disk with INPA, DIS, SSS, TIS, etc with a cable from eBay. I have two such monsters.
