Hey guys - 1995 M3 S50 here...running awfully rich as of late. I can smell the fuel-rich smell from the exhaust when parked...ESPECIALLY if I open the trunk after a few minutes of warm up or I'm starting it in a parking garage (which I do about daily). It's only present from burn-off...engine bay/cab/sides smell fine...it's clearly burning rich though catching a whif of exhaust. I bought the car a few months back with "24# injectors and a chip tune..." I'm actually taking the upper mani off tomorrow to replace all coolant, fuel, TB, etc. while its off and thought I'd take a look at the injectors while in there.
My real questions is; I beleive 24# injectors to be a bit much regardless...not knowing the age or original of the tune or injectors...if I choose to drop to 21.5# to lean up a touch will I need a new chip for this setup? I grew up with American muscle cars (66' Chevelle and a '68 Charger to be specific)...so tuning is a new world to me. Any advice on what to do and/or what to expect would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance;
Jesse

Is it running a 3.5 intake? Getting more air into the car would help with the rich issue, if that's even an issue (Have you checked to make sure everything else is operating properly?)
Injectors would be the last thing I would change. But in theory yes you would need a new tune/chip. Why not get a new chip and see.if that helps??

Does the smell seem stronger when you have a full tank or close to full? There could be an issue with the line near the pump. Google e36 gas smell and you will find what I mean. Good luck!

It does not, it is pretty consistent… And I just replaced all those a few days ago with coolant line replacements. First things first; I probably need to clean my MAF. It is a 3 1/2 "with an aftermarket maf and I don't know when the last time it was cleaned. I will focus on air intake first, then see where I need to go. My concern was that the previous owner put 24 pound injectors in when you should've been 21.5 pound… But this is all foreign to me, no pun intended.
