Called my dealer on my 2013 750Li and they stated they were putting in 0W30 in stead of the recommended oil in the manual. Has anyone else noticed this or seen anything from BMW on this? LOL, they also wanted to charge me $50 to "Scope" my vehicle. When I asked about this, they said it was to reset my oil frequency on the computer. I asked if I could save the $50 and just hold down the left instrument cluster button myself. They were quiet and did not respond. Oh how I hate dealer mechanics sometimes. If they want to steal $50 from me, they should just come out and ask for it instead of being so shady.

Unless it's GC 0w30, call them out on it.
BMW recently changed from 5w-30 to 0w-30. They've issued service bulletins about the change, and stated that all vehicles are fine to use the 0W-30. If you want 5 weight instead of 0, then just ask them for it

I wonder if they did this due to the high oil consumption issues they were having?
Was at the dealer Wed, said the same thing... 0-30. But the. He also said they can't change my oil
because it's not due until 12k. So I'm like it's 3700 more miles until then. He said I'll have to do it myself.
So im here trying to see what tools I need to make this happen
Fantastic, very easy to do. Screw the dealers as they are over priced with crap customer service. I have a 2013 750Li xDrive quoted me $195 for a simple oil change. They could change the oil if they wanted to. I wound NEVER go 12k on oil with such an expensive car.
